What’s So Special About Water Reclamation?

Water reclamation is vital to public health and recovering essential environmental resources, impacting the lives of Americans everyday.

Besides being important to our well-being, water reclamation is a capital-intensive industry that encompasses a number of technical and engineering disciplines. Water reclamation also requires work from municipalities and government agencies to be successful.

There are more than 16,000 individual water or water reuse facilities in the U.S.–a $100 billion per year industry.

However, water reclamation has its challenges. Most water infrastructure in the U.S. is aging, and will need to be repaired or replaced in the near future.

If you’re considering a career in water, or have a passion for environmental engineering, consider water reclamation. UW-Madison offers a Certificate in Water Reclamation for engineers and other technical professionals who work in the water or wastewater industry.
