Course Overview

In this course, you will learn how to meet signing and marking requirements from the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), apply High Friction Safety Treatment to reduce wet weather crashes, adopt Safety Edge treatments, and more.

The workshop will benefit all those with road maintenance, signing, marking, and traffic safety responsibilities, including:

Instructors

Andi Bill

Ms. Andrea Bill is currently the Traffic Safety Engineering Research Program Manager with the Traffic Operations and Safety Laboratory and Program Director with Engineering Professional Development at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is also pursuing a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, with an emphasis in traffic safety and operations. She is actively involved in the Transportation Research Board, Institute of Transportation Engineers, and American Society of Engineering Education.

Greg Helgeson

Greg retired from the Wisconsin DOT after a 35-year career in traffic engineering and highway project development. He worked in the SW Region-Madison office, the Central Office and NW Region-Eau Claire office. Greg spent 28 years as a traffic engineer, with a special emphasis in traffic safety. He strived to bring a collaborative approach to addressing traffic safety concerns by working closely with the County Traffic Safety Commissions, local officials, law enforcement and the public.
