June 16, 2020

In this TechTalk@UWEPD, Prof. Charlene A. Yauch, PhD, PE—associate director of the Center for Quick Response Manufacturing (QRM) and an instructor in the UW-EPD Master of Engineering in Manufucturing Systems Engineering online master’s degree program—explains how QRM enables companies to succeed by focusing on lead time reduction and time-based decision making. She provides an overview of the four key principles of QRM (the power of time, changing the organizational structure, applying system dynamics, and using QRM as an enterprise-wide strategy); describes how QRM applies to product design, manufacturing processes, and office processes; and shares case study results from industry partners that have worked with the QRM Center.
