UW-Madison partners with Docks Expo
MADISON, Wis. (7/18/17)—The University of Wisconsin-Madison has partnered with Waterways Journal Inc. and Marina Dock Age (MDA) magazine to offer UW-Madison’s Docks and Marinas course at the Docks Expo in November.
Docks and Marinas, which provides marina engineers, designers, planners and owners with the latest industry information, has been offered by UW-Madison since 1974. This year, for the first time, Docks Expo registrants can attend the course at no extra cost.
“With this course, you’ll be able to improve your ability to design, build, operate and maintain marina facilities,” said Dr. Howard Rosen, program director, UW-Madison Engineering Professional Development. “You’ll get practical information you can use—not a sales pitch. We’ll cover topics of broad interest, and offer breakout sessions with more particular interests so attendees can choose what’s most important for them.”
The Docks Expo is organized by Waterways Journal Inc. and MDA. This year’s expo will take place Dec. 5-8 in Nashville, Tenn.
In addition to its partnership, UW-Madison also announced a new series of webinars, starting with:
- Improving Marina Safety, geared toward providing attendees with steps to create a safety plan; and
- Avoiding Electrical Problems in Your Marina. Electrical shock drowning (ESD) is one of the most dangerous hazards in a marina. This webinar will focus on how to prevent ESD.
Each UW-Madison webinar will be offered first live at a scheduled time. After that, you can purchase the webinar to view at your convenience.
