UW-Madison has been consistently ranked in the top 10 by U.S. News and World Report for its online engineering master’s degree programs. But how does UW-Madison’s top 10 ranking work?

To be ranked, UW-Madison submits enrollment information and other statistics about its programs to U.S. News. From there, U.S. News assesses the program. U.S. News uses several factors to rate programs:

  • Student engagement
  • Faculty credentials and training
  • Student services and technology
  • Peer reputation
  • Admissions selectivity
