Dr. Ian McIntosh is the owner and founder of ianTEACH LLC. Providing innovative and strategic performance-based training, ianTEACH LLC serves engineers, architects, construction and facilities management professionals in the design, build, operation and maintenance (DBOM) segments of the national building industry. Dr. McIntosh brings an ensemble of innovative passion, technical expertise and business systems acumen to render strategic leadership in adult learning and development initiatives.
He is a BCA Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP) and has been a frequent lecturer at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Department of Engineering Professional Development (EPD) for the past 20 years. McIntosh has served there in various capacities including lecturing, course development, course delivery innovations and business development support. He has over 20 years of dedicated experience in Total Building Commissioning (a Quality Assurance/Quality Control process) and has managed numerous energy, commissioning, retro-commissioning, and LEED® commissioning projects throughout the nation. As a commissioning provider and mechanical engineer, Dr. McIntosh has prepared and led several Owner’s Project Requirements (OPR) workshops, written and integrated numerous commissioning specifications, co-invented and implemented electronic bar-coded checklists, system manuals and tracked owner cost savings. He has also executed hands-on, in-depth field work, performed functional performance testing of complex HVAC and BSL-3 laboratory systems/subsystems and coordinated full-scale operation, maintenance and user training programs.
Dr. McIntosh has contributed to the transformation of the AEC/Cx industry for 20 years through lectures and presentations to professionals from various universities, professional organizations and AEC/Cx companies nationwide, including the University of Wisconsin, MIT, MS National Guard, US Army Corps of Engineers, US Air Force, ASHRAE, GASFA, GAPPA, SAME, GSA, Green RoundTable, OSF Healthcare, CGLS, Columbia Engineering, Stephen Turner, Inc. and Pond & Co.
