John J. Kasab

With more than 20 years of experience, Dr. John J. Kasab, P.E. is currently a Senior Technical Specialist for emissions control at AVL in Plymouth, Michigan. In this role, he focuses on criteria pollutants and exhaust aftertreatment systems, fuel economy, and greenhouse gas emissions for both light-duty and heavy-duty engines and vehicles. Dr. Kasab also leads activities in the US involving reformers and fuel cell systems. He leads project teams working in these areas, and often coordinates activities across AVL’s sites globally.

Before joining AVL, John spent nearly 13 years at another consultancy, founded and managed Kasab Research, LLC, and worked at Scania CV AB in Södertälje, Sweden. Dr. Kasab received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. His Ph.D. in chemical engineering is from the University of Wisconsin-Madison under the supervision of the late Prof. Emeritus Warren E. Stewart, and was on modeling the behavior of chemical reactors. He is also a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Wisconsin.
