Thomas Heffner

Position title: Principal, Tom Heffner Enterprises, LLC

Thomas Heffner has over 18 years of experience working in engineering and innovation consulting. As a Lecturer in the Master of Engineering in Engineering Management (MEM) program and principal of Tom Heffner Enterprises, LLC, he teaches courses on design thinking, innovation, and leadership.

In addition to his work with the University of Wisconsin, he has taught clients across industry, government, and higher education—including The Johns Hopkins University, University of Maryland, Nike, Starbucks, 5/3 Bank, US Navy, Pitney Bowes, Accenture.

He received his masters in Applied Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania and electrical and computer engineering from The Johns Hopkins University, as well as his BS in electrical engineering from Penn State University.

Tom teaches EPD 708 (Creating Breakthrough Innovations) and 619 (Fostering & Leading Innovation) for UW-Madison Engineering Professional Development.
